When compliance becomes theatre: A mining leadership wake-up call
At Mining Indaba 2026, Ingrid Osborne, CEO of HSEC Online®, addressed a growing tension in mining operations: the widening gap between documented compliance and what is actually happening on site.
In high-risk environments, safety cannot rely on static approvals or once-off verification. It depends on continuous visibility, live competency control and the ability to demonstrate what was true at the moment risk emerged.
Osborne called for more open industry dialogue and invited companies to test digital compliance solutions through pilot programmes, saying meaningful change requires practical implementation.
